We got the histology results today—the large tumor that caused the amputation is confirmed to be lymphangiosarcoma. There was a second type of cancer in the lymph node though, a mast cell tumor. The lymph node was removed when they did the amputation, but they were not expecting to find a second type of cancer in it. What are the odds?!
We’re in good spirits because stitches come out on Friday and antibiotics are done. We’ll make a plan of treatment with the oncologist soon.
Hoo boy just what you needed, a curveball! Well at least you’re on the right track by meeting with an oncologist about it. Meanwhile enjoy the week and definitely take time to celebrate on Friday, that’s a HUGE milestone!
Hi, I’ve enjoyed reading your blog. Yep, stitches coming out is a milestone and usually a turning point.
Your Little Miss sounds like such a special girl, so of course she would have a unique medical situation! So glad to hear you’re in good spirits. Getting stitches out is such a turning point! LM will be so much more comfortable and content to start returning to more of her normal life.
